This work is inspired by the culture shock that artist had while staying in Yogyakarta Indonesia. His Indonesia friends used to always call him Wong which is artist’s family name.
‘Wong’ in Java language means human. The artist thinks that this is very interesting as every time they call him Wong they’re kind of remind him to be a good ‘human’.
Therefore, he sew many Chinese character ‘人’ which mean human with yellow color unwanted clothes. The artist repeated the sound of ‘wong’ and his name in different languages by wear the soft sculpture on his body. This act indirectly remind himself of variety of identity and how flexible it can be of the definition of “identity”.
